Dr. John O. Akers, D.D.S.

Dr. Akers has been in private practice and a forerunner in the specialty of dental implants since 1981. He was the first oral surgeon in the state of Florida to perform simultaneous maxillary and mandibular Teeth in an Hour procedure. Dr. John Akers works with the area’s best dentists to provide his patients with teeth in the same day. His extensive experience allows him to offer patients the highest quality care that is available in dental implantology.

Dr. Akers grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida. He has always had a passion for helping people. At the early age of five he knew his calling was to be a doctor. Dr. Akers has a love for the outdoors. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling the world with his family.

After receiving his Bachelors of Science degree from Presbyterian College, Dr. John O. Akers, D.D.S., went on to earn his doctor of dental surgery at the Medical College of Virginia’s School of Dentistry. His internship was held at the Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, followed by two residency programs at the Medical University of South Carolina: one in pediatric dentistry and one in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Akers is a board certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Curtis J. Schalit, D.D.S.

Dr. Schalit is well known in cosmetic surgery circles as a surgeon, an instructor and accomplished speaker. He lectures nationally and internationally on cosmetic facial surgery and also hosts monthly seminars for the public, speaking on ‘The Latest Techniques in Facial Rejuvenation.’

Dr. Schalit is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Schalit is partner with Florida Oral & Facial Surgical Associates and is the Chief Surgeon of the Division of Maxillofacial Surgery at Halifax Health Medical Center and Florida Hospital Flagler, as well as, an adjunct professor at Nova University, training residents in facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Schalit is also a national trainer for Allergan Cosmetics, Inc. and he personally holds a Diamond status with the company.

In addition to serving the community with his vast training and experience, Dr. Schalit is founder of Flagler Wolfpack Youth Football, where every kid plays, and co-founder of Operation Changing Lives, a medical based nonprofit organization that performs life-altering maxillofacial surgeries on disadvantaged patients with severe facial deformities, both in the United States and abroad.

Dr Roger R. Thayer, D.M.D.

Dr. Roger Thayer is a highly qualified and experienced surgeon. Dr. Thayer obtained his DMD and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine. He obtained his Master of Arts in Biology (1999) and his Bachelor of Science-Business Administration (1994) at the City University of New York-City College. Dr. Thayer served three years in the United States Navy, 2nd Dental Battalion, as a general dentist for the Marine Corps Air Wing. He did a GPR at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Thayer is committed to providing his patients with the utmost care and latest technology.

Dr. Thayer has written numerous publications and frequently lectures for his peers. He enjoys doing humanitarian work, flying and aerial photography. Dr. Thayer resides with his wife and children in Ormond Beach.

Bradley M. Pinker, D.D.S., M.D.

Dr. Pinker is originally from Carlisle, PA. He attended the University of Miami, FL where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to complete his requirements for Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York, NY. Dr. Pinker concluded his training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During this time he obtained a Doctor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a general surgery internship.

His professional interests within the field of oral & maxillofacial surgery include orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial pathology, and maxillofacial trauma.

Dr. Pinker is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Dental Association.

Outside of the profession, he enjoys running and watching all sports, in particular, Miami Hurricanes football.
